The New What Next: Rays vs Red Sox — The Battle For Last

The Tampa Bay Rays are coming off a huge 5-2 win, by way of a series loss, against the Oakland Athletics. And though the Rays dropped the first two games to the red hot Athletics, two very important things happened; the good guys were able to beat a team with its undisputed ace on the mound, and they were able to limit the league’s highest scoring team to eight runs total. That is, the pitching may have finally stabilized. Moving forward, the wayward Red Sox make their way into the Trop Friday for a three-game set.

The New What Next: From One “Sox” Team to the Other

The Tampa Bay Rays will go from facing one “Sox” ball club to the other Tuesday, when they head to Boston for a three-game series at Fenway. A very disjointed Rays will battle the reigning World Series champs, in the battle for last. That is, at 12-14 and 11-15 (respectively), both teams sit at the bottom of the AL East, behind the Blue Jays.

The New What Next: Rays Vs Red Sox Pt. Five, A Series Preview of Sorts

The Rays will start a four game set against the Red Sox Monday. It goes without saying, this is a big series, and the Rays stand to gain a lot of ground on the AL East leading Red Sox. However, this isn’t a season defining series. That is to say, no harm or foul if the Rays leave Boston Thursday with an even split on the series — hope for three-out-of-four or a sweep, be content with an even split. If anything, Tampa Bay is looking for a bit of payback for being kicked around by the Red Sox over their first 12 games against them.

The New What Next: Rays vs Red Sox – A Series Preview of Sorts

The Rays will make their way to Boston Tuesday to start a big three game series against the Red Sox, following a disappointing series loss to the Kansas City Royals. I cannot emphasize enough that the next two series are incredibly important — the Rays have an excellent opportunity to gain at least a game on the Red Sox, while also getting a chance to bury the Yankees. It is incumbent for the good guys to make sure they’re clicking on all fronts: pitching, defense, and hitting. That all starts Tuesday.

The New What Next: Enter the Red Sox

Come Tuesday, the 19-18 Tampa Bay Rays will welcome the 22-16 Boston Red Sox into the Trop, for the first game of a three game set against their AL East rivals. The surging Rays look to make up some ground in the East against a struggling Red Sox team, who have gone 2-8 over their last 10 games. If Tampa Bay can take the series, they’ll waltz into Baltimore at least three games over .500 and tied with the Red Sox for third place in the East. This promises to be a big series.
