MLB Trade Rumors reported that the Rays outrighted Chris Titus lookalike, Rich “I batted .091 in 23 games” Thompson, and RHP Wilking Rodriguez to Triple-A Durham in order to make room on the 40-man roster for Brandon Guyer and Robinson Chirinos. Rodriguez posted a 5.56 ERA with 7.7 K/9 and 4.0 BB/9 in seven starts.
Chirinos was concussed in Spring Training and saw no action in 2012, and Guyer received shoulder surgery toward the beginning of the season following an injury incurred during the great injury bug of 2012.
