Two things happened that effected the outcome of last night’s game against the Mariners.
- Steve Pearce went yard twice, and Steven Souza Jr. mashed a third homer for the Tampa Bay Rays.
- Drew Smyly lasted just five innings, allowing six runs on 10 hits, including a pair of three-run homers. Ouch.
The Rays look to bounce back in the getaway game this afternoon. Chris Archer (2-4) will go for his second straight win after throwing six scoreless innings his last time out against the Angels. Taijuan Walker (2-2) is scheduled to start after leaving his last outing against the Astros after just two innings because of neck spasms.
