Just because there is a microphone in your face…

Doesn’t mean you have to speak in to it. To avoid saying something that I may later regret, I’m going to make this short. While the attendance issue is obviously an important one, right now the Rays need to get into the playoffs. Evan Longoria…shut-up. At 24-years old, with a multi-year contract that guarantees $17.5 million, you don’t have a leg to stand on. I’m not hating on that fact or your successes, and although sometimes you display “veteran-type” qualities and behaviors, you are far from that. Go out there and do your job.

  1. I couldn’t agree more! One of my favorite recently published op-ed pieces was by Ernest Hooper (sptimes). He wrote about the over-abundance of comments by ESPN announcers discussing our lack of attendance, yet no mention that our economy has been the hardest hit of all the mlb towns. OR, that our Rays TV ratings are the highest.
I mean, I love Longo and all, but I don’t see him buying us all tickets when he has plenty of money to do that for his fans!

  2. The Rays have been fighting the AL battle all year and when “Bret Michaels” or ” Train” shows up it seems everyone can afford to go BUT… when we are about to achieve the main goal of the entire year no one seems to attend. Its amazing to me that someone who lives within 15 minutes of the stadium can not show up and support the biggest underdogs in baseball history!!!!!!! Evan and David have every right to point out that they are disappointed in the turn out, because there is no comparison seeing those boys play and a washed out has-been singing “every rose has its thorn”!
