Kriseman and Auld Restart Stadium Talks in Cordial Meeting Last Friday

Less than a week after Lisa Wheeler-Brown soundly defeated Will Newton in St. Peterburg’s pivotal District Seven city council race, Mayor Rick Kriseman met with Tampa Bay Rays president Brian Auld on Friday in a 45-minute meeting that has been described as “cordial” by Charlie Frago of the Tampa Bay Times.

With just three games remaining on the Grapefruit League schedule, the Tampa Bay Rays took to the mean streets of Highway 275, en route to the Philadelphia Phillies’ Spring Training complex in Clearwater, for a game against Ryne Sandberg’s rag-tag crew. The Rays exited the proverbial slaughterhouse after leading the lambs (Phillies) into a 10-1 buzz saw of epic proportions. Who cares that this is just Spring Training. Sandberg and his crew deserved the pummeling after making Tampa Bay play without a DH, to which Rays manager Kevin Cash admitted to not quite understanding, “We don’t quite understand… But whatever.”

Per Marc Topkin, given the potential of external options, Rays manager Kevin Cash said the team will hold off announcing the order and other pitchers on the rotation until weeks end. Cash also said Alex Colome won’t be ready when the Rays need their fifth starter on April 14. Likewise Drew Smyly and Alex Cobb are slated for later April returns.
