Looking Backward While Moving Forward: Rays Avoid Disastrous Comeback, Take Game One

The Tampa Bay Rays were ultimately able to walk away from Friday night’s game against the Baltimore Orioles with their heads held high, even if the outcome was less than operative. We should all be thankful that the Rays offense was able to step up, tagging the Orioles for 12 runs on 17 hits and five walks. After all, both Jeremy Hellickson and Kyle Farnsworth did something that they’ve been want to do all season, give up a sizable number of runs late in the game. I’ll go more in-depth below, in a segment I like to call The Good, Bad, and the Argyle: A Game Summary.

The New What Next: Rays vs. O’s, A Series Preview of Sorts

The Rays make their way to Baltimore Friday for the start of a three game set against the 23-17 Orioles. To call the Rays series loss to the Red Sox was a disappointment would be putting things mildly. Tampa Bay hoped to leave the confines of the Trop tied for third, yet they enter Baltimore in fourth place — back at .500 — following a pair of losses.

Looking Backward While Forward: The Win That Almost Wasn’t

Going into the seventh inning Saturday night, Jeremy Hellickson appeared to be on cruise-control. The Rays were up 6-2 and he’d given up only two runs on three hits, while retiring 16 consecutive batters — including six strikeouts. But then Helly did something that he’d done a few times this season: he gave up four or more runs, evaporating the Rays sizable lead.

Looking Backward While Moving Forward: Rays Rally Past Padres, 6-3

The Tampa Bay Rays took game one of a three game set against the San Diego Padres by a score of 6-3 Friday night, a game that would go down in annals of MLB history. To be fair, it was an odd game to say the least.

Looking Backward While Moving Forward: The “A Follower of Our Tumblr Page Contributed the Game Summary” Edition

I’m tired. I don’t feel like being smart, nor do I feel like breaking down the blown SEVEN RUN LEAD debacle that was Monday night’s Rays game. That said, I posted this invitation on our Tumblr page,

“Is there anyone who wants to write the game summary for us tonight? I’m in no mood, for obvious reasons. We’ll give you something fancy, like a handful if stickers.”
