Rays Spring Training Update, Day 21; Rays Win 8-4, Spring Roster Moves, McGee Set to Throw
The Tampa Bay Rays head into their first off-day of the spring on the heels of an 8-4 win over the New York Mets, bringing their Grapefruit League record to 5-6-1. After first posting an abysmal 1-5-1 record, Tampa Bay has won four out of their last five while averaging 5.4 runs per game. Although Spring Training records and statistics don’t matter, especially this early in the game, winning certainly is a feather in the cap in the feel good department.
Projecting the Rays 2015 Starting Rotation
I don’t put much credence into projections and predictions. With that said, projections can offer quite a bit of insight into a mathematically calculated outcome, whereas predictions are a wild stab in the dark by people who look at everything face value. Predictions rarely turn out correct (see the Rays predictions to go to the World Series last year) and projections, more often than not, warrant merit.

The Tampa Bay Rays started their final push for .500 with a 6-2 win against the last place Red Sox, Tuesday night. I read two things on the internet, in the midst of the game, that summed up the contest perfectly.
First, the Rays updated their Facebook page with the following,

1.49 ERA after All-Star break (1st in MLB)
2.75 ERA overall (6th in AL)
81.1 IP without allowing HR (Rays record)
Then a dashing, yet anonymous, writer updated his Facebook page with this,
Irrelevant baseball? For sure. Whatever the case, watching Buchholz getting it handed to him is still gratifying!
