In Defense of Something

We posted a piece titled In Defense of the Trop back on July 10th. Penned by a relative newcomer to the area, Ryan posits that many pathologically spend more time focusing on the superficial aspects stopping them from attending Rays games on a semi-regular basis, than actually attending the games themselves. In light of recent events, namely news that the City of St. Pete and the Rays are on a path — the right one or otherwise — to dealing with the Stadium Saga, I thought revisiting the topic might be apropos.

…More on Wil Myers

A friend of X-Rays Spex penned the piece below and was gracious enough to let me re-post it here. Let me predicate things by saying there hasn’t been a need for Wil Myers on the 25-man roster, nor has there been room. However as the season progresses, and the offense ebbs and flows, holes have opened up (at least on paper) showing where he could benefit the Rays at the plate. That still doesn’t detract from the fact to that you’d have to shuffle players around, or release someone from his contract in order to make room for Myers. That said, in light of Luke Scott’s 7-for-59 woes at the plate, the call for Myers has ratcheted up 10-fold. Perhaps it’s time to end the Scott experiment, and bring Myers to the bigs? Ian touches on all things Wil Myers below.

Looking Backward While Moving Forward: Rays Beat the Yankees 5-1, ESPN Opens Mouth Only to Insert Foot

We here at X-Rays Spex headquarters would like to send a huge fuck you to Dick Vitale, Rick Sutcliffe, and the rest of the jackals at ESPN for espousing their opinions regarding the Stadium Saga. To be clear, I fully support the building of a new facility… But only if the terms are right. That is to say, if a suitable location can be decided upon and if the local tax payers are not left on the hook to pay the lot share, build and build away. I’d imagine that most people in this area feel the same.
